This week we would like to congratulate two fantastic members of the Starkey team. Chris Starkey and Ronnie Gallup have both been nominated for Henry Awards. The Henry awards are the annual theater awards given for excellence in the world of theater arts in Colorado. All major theater companies are considered and we are proud to have two of our Starkey producers nominated. Ronnie was nominated for best choreography and Chris for Musical direction of the musical, Home For the Holidays. Great job to all the nominees and good luck to Chris and Ronnie!
Though there are multiple events for us each night here at Starkey, the night of Friday June 21st marked the AIA (American Institute of Architects) event filled with dozens of Starkey performers. A full range of artists from a new strolling saxophonist to our favorite band, Soul X, to a parkour (free running) team. Soul X had the crown dancing the night away to favorites such as Locked out of Heaven (Bruno Mars) and Raise Your Glass (P!nk). The parkour team roamed the grounds finding all kinds of obstacles to jump flip twist and swing over. Along with the fabulous music and acrobatics, we also had a chalk artist creating beautiful pictures around the event grounds and caricature artists drawing hundreds of faces for the crowd. We also had a group of break dancers to dazzle the audience with their head spins, holds, and other cool moves. To top of the night, there was a juggler who takes juggling performances to the next level. Not only can he juggle, but he can juggle knives, five balls, or four clubs at once (standard is 3) and does all this while standing on top of a rolling board! Overall, this was a fantastic and successful event filled with a wide array of talents.
Great job to all of the artists and Starkey staffers!
